Winton rd. is in West Point, There is plenty of roads
to drive there.
You can drive them (7N08) all the way to Arnold.
Up hwy 4 there are many forest roads in national forest.
Stop at the forest service to buy a map, the people are very helpfull there.

Just came back from Winton Road area after 4 days fishing Blue Creek and the North Fork Mokelumne River.
Still pretty warm for the deer to yet make their migration.
I'm planning to go back as soon as a storm comes through and the temp goes down. Last weekend the nights barely got into the low 50's (at 5000ft)
Make certain with a forest service map and /or using geocommunicator (sticky in public lands forum) There is a massive amount of a private forest plantation that is off limits to camping. Logging roads are generally well maintained and usually numbered but verify with maps.
The place is CRAWLING with road hunters after Tree Squirrels!
Saw Mountain Quail, Red Tailed Hawks, and a Rubber Boa.
A Local told me this is a big year for bear and he's never seen or heard so many coyotes!
