I had thought long and hard if I wanted to post this picture online or not.

I do not believe in posting pictures of my weapons online and I have never posted a picture of any large game I have taken online before.

Call me strange but I do not want a bunch of strangers knowing my business.

That being said I dont take part in any social websites or any non-sense like that. I live my life off this trap called the internet but I do enjoy this site so I wanted to add to it instead of just taking from it (in taking I mean looking at everyone else's awesome pictures).

LOL...the zone is d8(public land) and i got him right around noon(where in d8 ill never tell). He was leaving from drinking water and Im guessing he had waited for all the noise of most hunters to die down before attempting to drink water which is why I got him around noon. Most hunters were already in camp and not leaving any time soon.

He is an old buck. Really old. My guess is at least 10 yrs old.

His ear has a couple tag holes in them and he was castrated(he had no balls). Thats why im assuming he still had velvet. He was a confused buck and probably never any off spring and why he never got bigger than a fork n horn. He actually had extra points growing behind his eye gaurds but they never sprouted. If he had never been castrated this buck would have been HUGE.

Im assuming because of all the fires in the area he had just moved into that canyon. His chest was completely devoid of hair from him laying on rocks most his life.

I had scouted the area before archery season and during archery season and never seen him. This is sad to say but I used the stupidy of other hunters to get him. I watched a couple hunters walk into a canyon and waited on the other side for something to run up.

For new hunters reading this. Please....please, if you find an area with a lot of deer sign try not to ruin the area with your scent. I spent time in the pre-season scouting the area and knew of most the deer in the area but come opening day of rifle season all the rookie hunters ruined the area. Some of the idiots pitched tents right in the deer's nature funnel area. I was completely amazed at some of these people but there was nothing I could do but keep on keep'in on. I got lucky with this one but am happy with him.

Well done and congratulations. I hope to get and fill a tag next deer season.

Concerning the photo... I am the same way. I don't like photos of myself plastered all over the web. I'm not on Facebook or any other place like that. I am only a member of a few airgun forums and this hunting forum and that's the way I like it. If I get any hogs or bobcats this year and I get a photo of me taken with it I'll have the same type of smile face on me too. :)

By the way, I'll take your advice (and I'm smart enough to know better anyway) and I won't track my scent through prime deer areas and ruin it for everyone. You did good though by using the other hunter's mistakes to your advantage. Nice job.
