I booked an overnight trip on the Cortez out of San Diego in search of yellowtail and mahimahi a while ago. I managed my first yellowtail and couldn't get a strike on the mahis but I could see them everywhere. Here are a few pictures of the trip. The Hamachi kama and Hamachi sashimi was awesome! Looking forward to pulling some more up hopefully with my speargun the next time.

I have never caught one of those. Looks like they can fight. Congrats!

I love catching them,
We hit schools of yellowtail years back
in mexico, they came in one after another.
I feel your excitment. Good job.

Way to go Alex. I'm sure you'll be back out there fishing again in the future. The weather and ocean sure look good.
