Got sent to the Desert to put in a couple of miles of under ground..Decided to take my rifle and calls. I hunt with a guy I work with all the time. We got off at 5:30 this after noon and loaded up to go Coyote hunting. Only had time to make two stands. Took us a while to drive from where we are working to where we could hunt. First stand of the day and first one in a long time for me, we went to set down with our backs to a bush and almost set on a Buzz Worm. Killed the snake and then started calling. Had a hard charger. I whooped and stopped him and made the shot. Second stand got back doored. Coyote came in to 20 yards and Adrian spun when he heard it and said right there. Coyote took off and caught another gear every time we tried to stop it. Should have had a shotgun on that stand. We left it in the truck. LOL at us. Here is the pictures.

The Stand. Coyote is little black dot laying in road about 70 yards out.

That's a nice coyote, Bennie! Great pics and nice looking terrain (& weather). A great morning indeed!

Believe it was last year that I sat down next to a rattle snake while coyote hunting. The snake was rattling like crazy but I never heard it, (me) being half deaf. Finally my partner, perhaps 10(?) yards away, yells at me to get away from the bush I was sitting next to, which I did, being the obedient soul that I am and all (& is when I finally heard the snake). LOL

Anyway, Congrats on a great hunt! :signgreatreport3kg:

p.s. not sure how you called that coyote in, with your camo not matching and all?! :smiley-innocent-halo-yellow: :D

Thanks guys. Adrian went out again today. Got skunked. I had to cook for the all the guys I was working with, it was my turn. We take turns cooking dinner every night. There is no place to eat where we are working. We are going to try another place tomorrow after work. there is nothing to do here but drink or watch TV and eat. The pants in the picture are the ones I wore to work all day. Came back to the duplex we rented and just threw on a cammo shirt and went hunting. We have to drive so far we only have time for two or three stands after work. We parked our truck in this stand on the other side of a ridge point where the road switched backed around the point. We walked over the top of the ridge and down about a 100 yards and the road was right below us. There was nobody out there for miles, so I was not worried about it. Matter of fact never seen any one. Told Adrian this would be a bad place for the truck to break down or get stuck. Long walk out. And yes it would have been a real pain in the butt if I would have finished sitting down. My rear was on the way down with my back to the bush when that snake started rattling. Pretty close one there! That coyote was beautiful for this time of year. Had one of the bushiest tails I have ever seen. Had nice thick fur too. Gets cold up here at night. Would have skinned it but just getting moved in. Don't even have a water hose yet at home to clean up the mess.

Well, since nobody else posted it - an old classic.....

Two campers are in the woods when one is bitten on the butt by a snake. “I’ll go into town for a doctor,” the other says.

He runs 10 miles to a small town and finds the only doctor for miles helping a woman deliver a baby. “I can’t leave,” the doctor says. “But here's what you do. Take a knife, cut a huge X where the bite is, suck out the poison, and spit it on the ground.”

The guy runs back to his friend, who is in agonizing pain. “What did the doctor say?” the victim asks. The friend said, “He says you’re going to die.”

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally,… you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

Went again to day after work. Only had time for two stands. Got skunked on the first one. Did not like the way it looked any ways, but Adrian and I walked far enough from the truck that we figured we may as well try it. Walked about anther 1/2 mile to the second stand. Called for about 5 min and I see one drop out of a draw on Adrian's side, let him know it was there and seen that he saw him. Let him get to about 100 yards and I stopped the coyote. Adrian made the shot. Here is the pictures from today. We packed a shot gun today and did not need it. I think it is better to pack one in the country though. lots of brush.

Yep, another good looking coyote... and country you're hunting in. Way to go!

Some of the worst damage that I can recall that I've seen on a coyote has come from small(er) bores. 223, 204, 22-250 etc.

Hitting bone does it of course, but so does violent expansion or explosion from a light, high speed bullet, with most of this bullet's energy being spent on the "inside" of the animal, instead of (energy & expansion) being spent on the rocks behind the animal from a heavier, & possibly slower bullet. Just depends!

Anyway, another :signs1180lq: and :smiley_kewlpics:

The bullet hit real high above the shoulder and hit the spine where it blew up and left the mess you see in the picture.

You are right. I bought that rifle and sold it to Adrian. If I would have shot it before I sold it. I would not have sold it. That thing is a tack driver. It is also just the right weight for a pack around coyote rifle. Love the set trigger on it too. Been looking for one in .223.

Yep. I was going to say fringe shot on that coyote. If you hit them around the edges with any hi velocity round you're going to get a mess...and usually have to take another shot.

CZ really makes a nice rifle for the moola. I have their American (which looks like the one in the photo) in .204. Great little calling rifle.

It is the 527 American. Very nice and very accurate rifle. Adrian said he almost missed on this shot. Got too excited I guess. LOL First one he has killed this year. We been hound hunting on our spare time at home. Can't take the dogs to work where we are working now. So back to coyote hunting.

I have been looking for one in a .223. That rifle shoots really well. I almost bought a light weight Remington 700, but after holding it in the store and seeing what a piece of crap the stock was on it, I changed my mind. The CZ rifle is very well built I think. You do not hear much about them, but I think if guys seen how well they shoot you would be seeing more of them.
