So i packed up the family and headed up north to Fort Hunter Liggett in hopes of getting some pig but i forgot the deer season opened the day i was to start hunting.
Well i wasnt about to head back and it was too late to get a tag for that area so i was there for the long haul, and i hoped the added pressure would send the pigs my way.

Well this is how it played out for the day, Plaenty of pig tracks all over the place, and a group i was hunting near pushed some pis out of the river bed but not into my direction.

Spend 2 days hunting pigs with no sightings and saw deer everywhere, It wa strange to see blacktail in such numbers, i always heard they were hard to hunt. But they were all over the place.

heres some pics

Bummer about the no deer tag and seeing deer everywhere.
It just goes to show if you hunt pigs you see deer and if you were hunting deer you would have pigs all over the place.
Hope you had a nice weekend with the family.
Nice pic too

Despite the lack of targets, it still sounds like a good weekend!

On openeing day the day ended with 30 bucks being taken, the heavest was a 2x2 that weighed in at 145 lbs.
He had great length on his main beams and had brow tines.

It wa sa great trip. I would have stayed longer but i had a bad tooteh ache that was driving me crazy and i came back early to see a dentist but they all closed for the holiday.

I have seen a few hunting programs that said black tail were the hardest to hunt due to there size, hiding capabilities and that they were notoriousley skiddish, but i swear i counted 20 deer in 2 days, mostly does in groups of 6 and forked bucks.
I literally had deer within 50 yards.

Next year for sure i will be there to get a black tail.
