I didnt even put my gun to my shoulder. Saw 1 dove 500 yards away fly by
I think I need to get a few "spots" to dove hunt. This is 2 years in a row that I didnt even shoot on the dove opener, but in years past have limited out early!! Perhaps a recon mission a few days early may be in order.
Seeing some ducks fly in was inspiring!
Anybody shoot in Yuba County?

Got 3 today but should have had a limit. They stopped flying at about 9:30 where we were north of woodland. Finally found a sunflower field loaded with birds but they were very spooky and it was hard to get them in range. All small morning doves. Did not see any Eurasions at all.

Was a lot of doves up here 2wks before the season, but it turned kinda cold in the mornings and they left. Have seen a few of the Euraisians, they seem to stand the cold better or maybe they don't migrate like the morning doves. They are bigger. I don't bird hunt much anymore, lol sold all my shotguns except one old 870 wingmaster. Bought squirrel guns lol. Ed

I haven't hunted dove this year, but I still get excited when the neighbor kids hunt doves.
The ten year old came to the door saturday afternoon, wanting to take me up on my offer to
use my 410 shotgun.
I told him that I loaned it to my daughter, but I would go get it Sunday morning.
In the mean time he could use one of my 20 Ga. pumps, it was still a little big for him.
I got the 410 ga back, and he shot some trap, getting the hang of the gun.
So I am expecting a good report, and pictures the next itme he goes.
