So about 4 months ago i lost my cat who was an awesome pal of mine. I had no idea what happened to him until about 1 week ago around 1am when i was coming home I saw a coyote run out of neighbors yard with a cat in mouth. I was furious because now i knew surely what happened to my cat and #2 i was afraid for my mom who likes to walk her small dogs at night.

So tonite while coming home from fishing i see another coyote 1 block before my house. I rush home and pick up my bow and get back in the truck. I tracked him down way up the street by the jpl parking lot. I finally got maybe 30-40 yards from him and let an arrow fly.i missed by 2 feet or so. Once he saw that he really bolted down the hillside. It was a quick hunt and intense..not to mention probably illegal but somebody has to do something about it.

Definitely illegal but, brother, I sure understand your motivation.

Yeah, I have to agree with the BK and Big Shooter (notice I didn't say BS :-) ) on this. I do however understand your frustration because I've lost more than a few cats to coyotes. When I lived in Walker Basin I would go to the grocery store and take boxes of kittens from the kids and take them home for rodent control. I had 22 at one time and in less than a month I was down to six. The bastards cleaned out 10 peacocks and 25 guineas in two nights. I declared war on coyotes and got with a couple offriends and by the next afternoon we had 13 down. It helped for a while but it became an endless battle and I lost a lot of animals.
Now, don't try to get away! I am more muscular, more cunning, faster, and larger than you are, and I am a genius. Why you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten.

I gotta keep a closed lid on this, and follow all the general laws if Im going to be able to knock of few these guys out. What i've noticed with FG and Leo's around here is that as long you politely prove your not a nutjob shooting around at everything and keeping out of the public eye your fine. I dont recommend anyone go around bending the laws though. do at your own discretion.

"...keeping out of the public eye"??? You mean like here, on the INTERNET, where anybody, including DFG can and do read these posts?

I gotta say I would have done the same thing. My 3 dogs and 1 cat are like family. Hope you get that sucker. Sometimes there are bigger laws that prevail.
