Sojka and I headed out for the first time to see how this coyote stuff worked. Looked around and decided to try a canyon by big rock creek out near Palmdale. Hiked in a bit and called a couple places but no sign of any life at all. Maybe we were at too high of an elevation? Been looking all over la county for spots with signs of life but haven't seen much at all in hunting areas so i guess we will keep searching.

Took some pictures but I don't know how to attatch them from my photobucket via iPad on here. Anyway, fun to get out there at least. Realize we don't really know quite what we're doing out there.

Welcome to California Predators Club. Don't get discouraged. We all had to start someplace and most of us had a lot of failures. Still do for that matter. Hang in there. When the first one responds to a call you will be hooked.

We think we're gonna try the Owens valley next. Bummed there was no action today, but it was so great just being out there. Hopefully we get some more successful reports up soon!

You get props just for going out and trying :good: . You don't just accidentally get good at anything. The shooting of anythng is the easy part, the real hard part comes from trying not to let the less successful hunts get you down and deter you from trying again. Keep at it, just keep at it. And best of luck.

By the way, there's not many coyotes in Inyo county.........................

Definitely heading out next week again. Took me forever to catch fish when I started so I certainly know it takes time for anything. It's just so limited out here in LA county. They are mad strict with where you can hunt. Everywhere that looks really good is no hunt area.

Welcome. Keep at it and it will happen.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Hey Adam, that is the (high) price we pay for living in L.A.... It really SUCKS in other words, as a hunter &/or outdoorsman. As mentioned above, perseverance is the real key. And as also mentioned, once you slay one, you'll be hooked. It's the highest adrenaline rush in hunting & fishing in Ca. Just ask Bisley's nephew. ;) LOL

Just a suggestion, not to mention your exact hunting locations. Sure, there isn't anywhere that hasn't likely been hunted, but no need having a LOTTTTTT more hunters hammering your area either. There are hundreds, if not more, of folks reading this stuff on the net. Many of us have seen hunting or fishing spots ruined by loose lips. Again, just my opinion is all.

Anyway, hang in there, keep us posted, and Good Luck

I'm with Frank on the location information. Most on here can tell from an innocent photo where you're hunting as well, so be creative when you take pictures. BRC gets hit pretty hard by day users this time of year. Stay at it and keep calling. It'll happen.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Now, don't try to get away! I am more muscular, more cunning, faster, and larger than you are, and I am a genius. Why you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten.

:rofl2: Yep, what don't kill him (or scar him for life) will only become more addicting to him. But watch out for those 3' tall bad boys though  . He wants to try it again, but only after you eradicate the man-eating 3' tall ones for him Frank :D

Keep looking and keep calling. Just like real estate is all about location, calling can be not only about location, but also about the right timing as well.
