My wife and I woke up at 3:45 AM, had a cup of coffee, and off to the range to beat the crowd and the heat. I closed the gate to the back range at our club and set up my steel target at the 525 yard mark. Got the wife behind the 6.5-47 Lapua, and dialed in 8.75 MOA and told her to just aim at the center of the steel target and fire away. We could barely make out the 8"X18" steel target at that distance. Incredibly, she still managed 4"-6 shot group.

Just to be fair with other club member, who were waiting to use the back range, we concluded our shoot at the 500 and moved to the 100 yard range.

I told my wife that I want her to work on her trigger and breathing control. She haven't done any serious shooting for the past 20 years. In spite of that, she was able to shoot several respectable 5 shot group at 110 yards. I think I just found a new shooting buddy. The only drawback was, I lost one of my rifle.

Several more trip to the range and I think my wife will be ready for the next 600 yards shoot next month.

DF now you have an excuse to get a new rifle lol. It is great when the wife is interested in what hubby likes, of course that works both ways. Congrats, Ed

Thanks ED.
Now that she is getting into it, I will have my smith build her a 6BR so that I can get my rifle back LOL.

Yep! not bad considering that she'd been to range with me no more than 4 or 5 times since we got married 29 years ago. She is however not new to firearms. Her mom's boyfriend used to take them shooting.

It is great when they get interested. But in my case it is expensive also. I end up buying her better rifles and scopes than what I have just to be fair. I hope your wife really loves her new rifle and scope. You will probably be mad if she out shoots you with it. LOL and have fun shooting.

Looks like she is doing really well on the range. I think it is worth a rifle to get them involved and like Ed says, now you have an excuse to build another one.

Nice shooting. The other problem is that now you have to reload for her as well!

Went out again this morning and this time I placed a couple of clay pigeon at the rear of the 500 meter pit. The distance measured 600 yards exactly. My wife has no problem picking the clay pigeon one by one once I dialed in the rifle.

She also improved her 5 shot group at 525 yards from 4.4" to 2.1"

Nice!
Now she might want you to take her hunting and want her own mounts on the wall !

So when will you introduce her to Nathan Dagley?

You didn't loose a rifle, you gained an opportunity for a new one.
