Posted 06 August 2012 - 12:37 PM
While I know lots of hunters It seems to be getting harder and harder to find hunting partners these days... So I'm heading out by myself again, It should be FUN!!!
Leaving on Thursday night around 9ish going to sleep a few hours and wake up at my first spot. Hunt all day sleep a few hours and do it all over again Saturday before turning around and heading home.
Only having to work 2 days this week makes it even better!!
I'll definitely post how the trip goes when I return

And you should fare well on the dogs, I almost killed 3 on Saturday up there with no calls or guns, just the truck. First one ran in front of me on a dirt road at 10am. Second one almost got hit by myself and others on the highway at 2pm. And the third almost ran into the back of my truck on a dirt road while he was in a full blown run chasing a rabbit and passed us up not 10 yards from the truck on the driver's side. I could have opened the door and knocked him out! And they all look pretty skinny which is weird since I must have seen over 200 rabbits in 2 days (mostly jacks). I guess they don't like the taste of jacks either, don't blame em.
Frank, you have a long and detailed PM coming again. You REALLY need to get yourself out there!!!

Ya know, I often wonder just how efficient coyotes really are at killing "jacks" (not cottontails). Reason I say that is, well over a dozen years ago, I had a lady from Arizona telling me how really pissed off she was at the coyotes..... for not killing enough of her jack rabbits. Apparently the jacks were eating up her vegetable garden. Never thought much about that, until after that conversation. LOL
