Finally had chance to take the boat out on Saturday. Since the cuda and sand bass report been very slow. I decide to go out further and do some bottom fish.
Invited two friend on board and leave Long Beach harbor around 6:30 AM.

Head to the 4 sisters ( 4 oil rig out side of seal beach) to searching for fish. First stop at my white fish spot. Fishing from 8 ~ 10 nothing but sanddads and small rock fish. Since the spot is dead. we move to 150 area in hope to catch some rock cod. My first drop and I felt the heavy weight on the end of line. When I see the color and I was happy that it is the big red that I was looking for. ^^

The current was pretty strong and we change to 10 oz weight but still can't reach the rocky bottom in time before wind blow us away from the spot. We caught 2 more bocaccios and give up on this spot to call it a day. Great weather on the water but just not great fishing day. Still,, We enjoyed being on the water and drink a couple of cold one with friends.

My dad used to always want to take me ocean fishing and he convinced me 2-3 times but every time I would get sea sick. I eventually got him to drop me off at the break water and let him go out a little further. Anyway it's not how much fish you catch, it's how long of a nap you can take .

NIce day on the water with good frields, I hope you have better luck next time..
That is FAC if you ask me.. We had 6ft swells about every 8 secs plus wind waves on Sunday out of SF gate for Salmon.
We skunked out all day fishng for Salmon and tried for some Butts in the SF bay with no love.

What lake was that?
I would kill for water like that.
We are waiting for a good day for Salmon and rock fish.
My back would last all day in water like that.

Nice fishing. I miss fishing for rock cod......Ahhhh....I miss it cause I don't want to pay the charter fee. LOL

WOW ! I had to think about the last time I went Rockcodding ... Last 2 trips I went on were DEEEEP ...

1 out of Ciscos , Oxnard Capt said we'd be beating the storm . Did not happen . We were in 15/16 + swells coming back in . No one was allowed outside . It was slow coming in with its ups n downs . I fell asleep & someone left their " ashes " on board . They were supposed to toss them over the side .

2nd one I remember because My reel had no less than 3 " connections " in my dacron . Pole was bent over , not on the bottom , made it pass #2 of the splices , got it to the 3rd & it popped . That & the toad Whitefish .

Where did you get dacron?
They haven't used Dacron sence party boats got Diesel engines.
Mono, and Braid are semi new.

Exactly knocked Up . Thats how long ago that was .

I was 13/14ish . You'd be crankin on your 9/0 ( with the longer handle ) for what seemed like forever . And , not that I did it , but my friends that were 8+ years older than me , could smoke joints on a boat without getting yelled at . One of them concidered it a " skill " to roll a joint on the backdeck , whilst the boat was running ( 8-10 knots ) .
