I saw the smallest coyote pup this afternoon while i was cutting alfalfa he was no bigger that a adult cottontail. He sure was a cut little thing i would stop and go looking for him but it would hold up in the hay and not move i must have walked by a dozen times.I hope it's mother finds him and they move out into the black berries on the boarder of the field hate to have it killed tomorrow.
.
.Is this normal for this time of year or is this female just late?

You saw what you saw but it sure sounds unusual. Keep us updated.

Went out to the field this morning and saw it again it's the size of a t-cup about 6 to7 pounds.I saw him more then once in and out of the hay but my iPhone camera was always to late.I stuck the caller out and played vole squeaks it did work for a little he would stare my way but not come in.I turned to look at the fox pro caller and one of sj's favorite critter is running past it oh great......
I think the mother is around i saw adult prints and pup prints on the dirt road.

That's a BIG t-cup at 6 to 7 pounds. I have one that is the runt of the litter running around my neighborhood. But it's 5 brothers and sisters are getting much bigger. It probably isn't getting fed enough. Survival of the fittest.

Not unusual at all, I've seen little ones running around as late as Aug. Up North or in colder climates I've seen small ones into Sept.

i have been swamped with work and shearing sheep in the off time. too tired to pound on the keys lol. First year females breed late sometimes. hit the siren and see where the den is . It could be a runt, or mom and dad are history. A note on sirening dens, middle of the day is the best , as they are out of a hole where they can here it. early am they are not real responsive.
