I purchaced a smith and Wesson 357 several years ago,I was told that it was a mod 19. However, after looking at pictures on line, I am not so sure. What do you think?

I would call S&W with the serial # . I bet they would know. Good looking revolver!

When you open up the cylinder, there should be a model # and a series number there on the crane (frame).ie, 29-2, for Model 29, 2nd series. The "N" is for N frame, then the serial #, then the model info, like this here:

Bob,
You are a wealth of information,Thank you, The serial number was hiding from me.
It is a mod 19-3 Now I can put it on my inventory list with a serial number.
Thanks Tom

I guess I must have found the serial number prior,Because it is already listed on my inventory list, but I never noticed that the model number was there also.

Any time, like I said before, I grew up in a predominantly S&W family. I even have a complete gunsmith manual (couple dozen pages) explaining how to work, hone, and at what angle for the S&W triggers B) .
Good guns too, used to be able to get them real cheap as Police trade-ins :good:

Nice gun! She'd sure look pretty with a set of wood grips.
My guns are mine, they aren't for sale, and I only give guns to people that I really like. So I guess the government is **** out of luck.
