We've been hammering the doves for the past week in the rice fields. Sorry to see the season close on Tuesday. Well I guess I'll have to get back to duck hunting, but it sure was fun while it lasted. Those big ol Northern dove that have been eating rice are really good on the Barby.

Good going Dale. I'd forgotten about late season until you mentioned it the other day. Usually they're all gone by now but being a mild year so far I guess they've hung around. I bet they are tasty.

Since the rice guys started using the stripper headers on their combines and swathing/baling the straw because of the burning restrictions around here they have exposed all the residual rice that the doves couldn't get to before. I've got a bunch of buddies that are still farming rice and we have really had some good shooting in the second season. I don't know about all the rice ground up above Sac. but I'm sure with alittle scouting you could find some for next year. Best time to look around though would be in the next couple of weeks. The season closes Tuesday the 26th.
