I bought a box of the barnes Tac-XP 42912 200 gr copper hollow points to load in my Charter Arms Bulldog .44 special. The bullet is much longer than the speer gold dot and hornady XTP 200 grain bullets, obviously.Anyway, I didn't find any data for this or similar barnes bullet for the powders I have (bullseye, W231, clays universal).I'm not looking for a hot load, just want to run about 800 fps in this 3" barrel, like the other bullets I've got.Anyone loading this bullet in .44 special?

I found this information on the Barnes web-site, go to data and click on pistol.44 Special from the Barnes web-site, bullet weight was 200 gr XPBTrim Length: 1.150" S.D. 0.155Bullet Style: XPB Primer: WLP B.C. 0.138COAL: 1.610" Barrel Length: 5.64"Case: Winchester Twist Rate: 1:20"Charge Velocity Charge VelocityPowder (grains) (fps) (grains) (fps)Silhouette 7.2 863 8.0 959No. 5 7.7 854 8.5 949Minimum MaximumThey also had this to sayRoll crimp the case mouth into the cannelure.*The Barnes #42921 200-grain XPB bullet (not the 200-grain #42920) is intended for use in the.44 S&W Special cartridge. The cannelure position and design of the X-cavity on the #42921bullet are tuned specifically for the .44 S&W Special, while the #42920 bullet is intended for use inthe .44 Remington Magnum cartridge.

My Barnes reloading manual number 4 shows some 44 Special loads for the 200 grain XPB bullet. They show loads for AA No.2, Zip, Solo 1250, True Blue, Silhouette and AA No.5. If you want the data for some of these powders let me know.
