Okay, he is a serious question lol. I found a place for turkey last week, went with the bow and shotgun. Came real close to getting a turkey, it was really fun chasing them. More important for me, that is, this place is loaded with ground squirrels. Can I bring both shotgun and rifle out at the same time into the field? I really want to shoot some squirrels, this place will give me well over 600 yrd of fun. I am going out tomorrow, so my main reason to go is to try my long range shooting lol. thx Robert

I dont know alot about turkey hunting but my best guess is its mostly a morning/late evening thing. I do shoot alot of ground squirrels, and they are most active when its brite and sunny. So if I hunted turkeys in the morning and changed up for squirrels by 10:00 or so it might an intresting day. But I dought turkey hunting that evening would be all that great. just a thought, DR

I am an instructor and No.. you can not bring them both to the field. you can switch them out in the car.. but are not allowed to take both into the field. but you are allowed to take turkeys with a .177 air rifle and also squirrels so if your wanting to take one firearm that would be it. otherwise you must leave one beind. Also remember turkey hunting ends at 4pm!!!!!

I'm afraid I would have to disagree. It would be no different than carrying a pistol (or rifle) while hunting dove or quail, just don't use it for birds. It is also not legal to hunt deer with a .22, but if you are carrying one with your .30-06 during deer season you are not going to get cited. It is not illegal to carry as many guns as you want, it IS however illegal to USE them on certain species. But like we always say, best bet is to head to DFG office and speak with an Officer. Now, with that being said, being right does not mean you won't be hassled though. That is a whole other ball game. What you can do to help the situation would be something like if it is a bolt action rifle, remove the bolt and keep it in your pocket rendering the rifle useless while hunting turkey . A little effort goes a long way (usually) with the Officers, and even farther should it come to a judge ;) .

A hunters ed instructor??I feel sorry for your students because you are wrong. You can carry as many guns as you like. Also, an air rifle is not a firearm

I was up at FHL not long ago and had the opportunity to talk with a game warden. When I explained my plan of hunting both turkeys and hogs he was quick to ask, "So you are going to carry both the shotgun and muzzleloader?" I said it was a long walk back to change guns.

He said, put one on your back and carry the other. That way you are ready.
