Without trying to be a real smart
, being from San Berdoo, the San Berdoo mountains are right
there, and they are plum full
of game. Just be aware that West of the 15 is lead-free, East is OK for lead. Right now after a good rain is a great time to just pick a fire road and look for fresh tracks and scat. I know this was posted in the predator section, so I assume that is what you are looking for, but there are also a lot of birds there for the taking. Both Valley and mountain quail. And quite a bit of deer and bear also. Just jump on the 15, head North to the pass (Cajon), exit the 138 off ramp (best place) pick a side (East or West), and start taking the fire roads and easy trails. I promise you you will see sign. I took a member from here back there last year the day after a good rain, it looked like a highway for coyote, bobcat and even deer for miles, and all less than 24 hours old
. And I haven't even mentioned the Big Bear area yet! They are literally everywhere.
