[KNOCKED UP]

Saturday on my way to the snow, I stoped at a yard sale, they had a Hoppe's 9 Skeet thrower, used once, and in mint condition. I purchaced it for two dollars.

I have worn out a couple of those.

If you can weld I recommend making a mount that you can use to hook it to your trailer reciever on your truck. Then you don't have to constantly stomp the legs back into the ground and you can use the tail gate to sit on when you launch them.

Gotta love finds like that. Got one just like it with 3/4 box of clays when I got my Mec shotgun press off Craig's List, all for $40 . I highly recommend a 2'x2' piece of plywood and a rod welded onto the back of it though. The wood keeps it set, and the rod off the back makes it so you can throw it for yourself by tripping it with your foot and forget about the worthless pain in the rear string, or so I've heard .

Absolutely, just as soon as I get back down south in the next day or two. Got another appointment to see a man about a job again tomorrow here in Bakersfield, and either way, will have to head back shortly, even if it's just to pack some more stuff (I sure hope so).

Thanks Tom. Talked to the GM Saturday, and did all the paperwork he recommended today, so now I just have to sit and wait and see what he can do. Tick, tick, tick, ugh!Anyway, I'm back at home and got some pics for you. The yellow one is my first one. It works fine, but the 3/8" rod I welded was way stouter than needed. A trait my dad instilled in me. I had to replace the spring with a stronger one since it kept pulling the release down on it's own, not a good thing .I got much wiser on the second one. I used a 1/8" rod, and it works just fine. It will seem a little flimsy and flexible, but it does not take much pressure to release the thrower.You will notice that I welded them, but I am fortunate enough to have been an Ironworker the first 15 years out of high school, so I have the equipment. If anyone doesn't have a welder, JB Weld would work just as well. Between this and the wood to help hold it in place, you will love shooting clays even by yourself. It is also a great way for someone else to use one of these and a hand thrower to toss them quickly in two different directions. Don't get more real than that. As always, hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine .

You know, it hit me after I sent it that you had mentioned be a hands on, mechanical guy, so I figured you did . If you do end up doing it, let me know how it turns out and if you like it any better or worse if you get a chance. I never liked the string, and even my buddy's thrower with a foot pedal just seems to close to the arm for this ole boy .
