Well the season opened Sat. Bite was wide open in the bay with most of the hot action around the Canyon. Limited Sat. for 4 guys and today did a short morning fish for 2 more before Easter family stuff. Nothing of any size but good on the Barby.

Good job,I had to sit out the opener this year due to my back, and frozen sholder. My friends still delivered some fresh salmon to my house.I will return as soon as my sholder gets better.Tom

Fished Monday for early limits for 3 of us of better grade fish. Fished today but missed the early bite at the Soquel Hole. Managed to pick up 3 with a rookie crew. One was a toad 36" with wide shoulders, I didn't weigh it but would say it was at least 20#. Smoker is going to be working shortly because the wind is supposed to blow for a few days. Getting used to handling this new boat and figuring out all the systems is tough for old techno dale.

My sons an I fished opening weekend and Monday. We averaged a fish per rod per day and released several shakers. A friend fished this morning and had 8 fish on the boat before 8am. Sounds like the bite is on at Soquel Hole.

Yea Dan I've heard your son out there isn't his handle Pickle Barrel or something like that. Still redhot. I'm grand baby sitting but my buddy was headed back in at 8:30 with 4 limits cleaned and on ice. Smoker is working overtime.

Jay and a friend fished after work yesterday and got four fish, biggest being 17 lbs. Fished straight South out of the Santa Cruz harbor about 10 miles. They had their lines in about 30 seconds when the got their first hookup. The Pickle Barrel is our boat. We just put a new motor on before Salmon season started. They fished yesterday on Jay's friend's Arima. Below is a photo of Jay on the Pickle that was taken a few years ago. Now you know what we look like in case you see us out there.Attached File  jay&pb.jpg   60.97KB   5 downloads

C-Dory made in Kent WA. Ours is a 16 ft. but they make a 13, 16, 21, and 25 in both fisherman and cruiser models. The cruisers have bigger cabs and less deck space.Google "C-Dory" for more info.

Sunday limits on Pickle Barrel. Back in the harbor at 9 am with 8 fish. The fish were a little above Three Trees today about 8 and a half miles out of the harbor. The locator was black with bait and fish. All fish came at 30 ft. on the wire.Attached File  4:22:12 Fish.jpg   75.93KB   0 downloads
