Went out Friday to a horse ranch owned by a friend of mine he had some yotes waking him up when I said I was a coyote hunter he said come on down anytime. I set in one of the canyons on a side hill about half way up with my call on the bottom hoping to pull something out into the open. Wind was left to right and sunrise was behind me as was a pretty good scrub oak I was sitting under. After a few minutes of a femal howl followed by a loator I kill the noise and hear a soft bark from behind me and think great I am busted. I turn around just enough to see this guy barking at me so I lay flat roll over with my gun and popped him mid bark. Thats a pic taken by one of the ranchers. The second one I was scouting some land off the 15 and figured I would challenge myself by forgetting my shooting sticks. I set up over the ridge in the background and after about ten minutes of cotton tale distress and nothing I switched to pup distress and he came trotting up the canyon. I had him in my scope the whole way then bark stopped him right behind a bush waited for him to move again barked stopped him again the popped him. I see another yote taking off the right of this guy so I bark stopped him again at about 200 yards but missed...no sticks really makes a differnce I even had time to look around for a branch or something to rest on but there was nothing. Just the same I found some really good spots with tons of sign. AltogetherI saw 7 yotes called in three and shot two. I was home napping by one.Good Hunting,PaulAttached File  Coyote 17 April 6, 2012c.jpg   37.81K   12 downloadsAttached File  Coyote 18 April 6, 2012c.jpg   53.72K   14 downloads

Good job on the Coyotes!

Nice dogs. Hope you were not hunting to close to were that picture was(looks pretty close to the fwy/roads, populated areas) sounds like you used a rifle. Most of the land off the 15 is private, be sure you know where you are at. Would hate to see you get busted or even worse someone injured.

Wow. Well no need to get into semantics with you. (most of the land) I was not trying to lecture, just give some advice to prevent you or anyone else from getting in a bad situation. Your reaction is interesting however. I guess some people are too "professional" to take some friendly advice. Sorry, this is a public forum so I might just reply to your post in the future. :653:

:653: Way to go.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.
