Hi all, I wanted to say "thanks" to the people who pointed me to the Quail Point Hunt Club. I took my brother and good friend there last Saturday (16th). Shot 7 pheasants. I'll post pictures by tomorrow. Even though it's a "plant" bird hunt, the folks there were very nice and accommodating - I even left them with some of my pepper sticks & summer sausage from my bear I shot this year. I am heading out there again on the 27th with my daughter to shoot trap and hunt birds. Thanks again - people on this forum have been great with advice & banter!!

I think that was probably Dave Bozsik. He swears by that place and has been there several times. Everyone tries to be helpful so it is always a pleasure to hear when someone had a good time.

Yep. That's the place ^^^^^ it's about 2hrs from San Jose area. I'll be back there again on the 27th - for the next two weeks they're planting just roosters - they have 14,000 roosters and need to get them down to a manageable number to avoid them killing each other. So, if you're gonna go, do it within the next week or so.

27th huh? too bad, cuz I work on Weds and think I may go the day after Xmas. I'm going to be up in Petaluma for Xmas with the family, and it would be a lot closer (I think) to leave Petaluma Tues morning and head out there. Anyways, thanks for the link, and good luck!

well, I haven't officially committed to the 27th - 26th may work as well, but since this is the first time my daughter will be shooting at birds I though I'd do it with just her to avoid any unnecessary injuries to others in the party (j/k) --- they have a trap range there at the club house too, so I think I'll get her stated there, then head to the field if her shoulder isn't killing her by that time :)If you make it there on the 26th, have a great time!

I just took a closer look at the site, and they are only open weds-sun, so it looks like I'll be there on weds instead...

There are other plant and shoot operations closer to San Jose I think. Rooster Ranch in Stevinson for one, and I don't know if it's any closer but Camanchee Hills near Clements. There's also Hastings Island, near Rio Vista

Ha! yep, and there were plenty of burrs out in those fields...funny enough he just went through those burrs like it was nothing. And, at the end, no stickers..'magine that.
