Starting this year Arizona allows night hunting of coyotes in certain regions. It is SHOTGUN ONLY at night. Any color spotlight is OK but the light must not be connected to your vehicle. No shooting from a vehicle. Definitely check the rule book. Better yet, phone or visit the Arizona Game & Fish Department. http://www.azgfd.gov...ons_2011-12.pdfBe sure to ask them about their centerfire 5-round capacity regulation. 5 in magazine and 0 in chamber. Or 4+1. Not 5+1. I just spent 3 days hunting prairie dogs and coyotes at Boquillas Ranch, north of Seligman, AZ. Found out the Ranch coyotes get intense hunting pressure and are highly educated. For example, the Ranch hosted the annual "Antelope Eaters Coyote Hunting Contest" on the previous weekend. Of the 171 teams (over 300 hunters) participating, only 22 coyotes were taken and 7 of those were by one team. At least one of the AZ wardens was VERY particular about separating your vehicle from your bench-shooting trailer. One of our guys was almost cited for shooting prairie dogs from his trailer while connected to his truck, even though he had undone the chains and raised the hitch clear of the ball. The warden tried to insist that he failed to roll his truck clear of the hitch but, in the end, no cite was issued, possibly because that hunter was hunting with his 12-year-old boy. I recommend going way overboard to be in compliance. That warden was strict. I didn't hear of any other encounters.

:roflmao3[1]: Ken, 2 or 3(?) years ago I was on the Boquillas ranch for coyotes. We had better luck elsewhere, although we didn't spend a lot of time in any one location. Sorry to hear about your warden experience there. I've hunted a few different areas in Arizona & usually call in a coyote or two. That state seems to always draw me back every few years.Monkey, I was wanting to go back (to Arizona) this month, but just couldn't get away. Oh, but there aren't any coyotes where you went though. :roflmao3[1]:

The area was game rich, like i said deer tracks and scat everywhere, quail every morning and iam pretty sure i found some bobcat scat and tracks.Arizona is just amazing everytime i go its something new and beautiful. But to be in such a vast wilderness no one around for mile and hear no calls in the morning or evening means no coyotes to me.Maybe next time i scout northern cali.

Save your time and money, I haven't heard them calling in Northern CA for quite a while either so I'm sure there's none up there also.
