on my way to feed my sheep and a coyote was in a meadow about a mile from my house. It took off before i could get the rifle out and hit the brushline. I had three dogs with me and got them to bark and ole coyote couldnt stand it ,and popped his head out of the brush and gave me a quartering shot. The wind was blowing real hard but I got lucky and connected, just not in the neck. the dogs found it in the ditch. about 300 yards with a 22-250 55 gr. Berger putting along 3586 fps ( crawling for Frank).

LOL, yeah it is, Eric... but it still managed to "buck the wind" anyhow. B) I personally do not put much stock in wind blowing bullets off target. I have made enough (300-500+) yard shots on deer &/or coyotes in (some VERY) windy conditions to make me a HUGE skeptic of that stat. But hey, I was wrong once before. LOLAnyway, :signs1180lq: :signgreatreport3kg: as usual p.s. and as Bronco stated, you're dog (not the coyote / lol) is sure a beauty

Did you have to point the dog's in the right direction to find that coyote.... :signgreatreport3kg: Good work on the coyote I say the wind does play it's part on a bullet.

As slow as I got those bergers going Frank you can stand out there and catch them with a catcher mitt!. Short story on those bergers. I bought them as factory loaded ammo. With high hopes ,I bought 5 boxes of them and they shot like crap in my gun. i pulled the bullets, dumped the powder and built a load for them with IMR4895, and with them pulled way out of the case, as they are extremely long bullet.Anyway ,I took something that shot 3" groups to touching with a little work.Attached File  IMG_0847_1.jpg   40.48K   2 downloads 55 grain berger vrs. a 55 grain v-max

Amazing, Eric, what a little "work" will do with the handloads. What a difference between the two bullets. Pics do say a thousand words. The 250 is indeed an AWESOME predator round, for LOTS of reasons.Shoot-it, not saying the wind won't effect a bullet, as it sure can. However, under certain conditions (& proper handloads) it won't have as much effect, if any, on them. Especially at around 3 & 400 yd +/-.If you had been with me on any of my long(er) shots you may have a change of mind. MAYBE? But, there are lots of folks that will agree with you obviously, but I tend to believe my own lying eyes over anything else. I have witnesses on these shots, with one who is more convinced than myslef. If that's possible? LOL

those dogs can smell the powder trail. I for sure had some wind drift going on. Like about 8" against my trigger pull. So I dont think it was me. There is a whole lot of factors that come into play. As I once was told "there is more air around them ,than in them, but things get interesting when there is lead in the air"
