It was only a matter of time until this happened. If this is successful, we can expect the HSUS will step up to try to systematically do away with hunting, one specie at a time. The link is not working. I will try to find out why.The bill, Senate Bill1221, was introduced by Senator Ted. W. Lieu, and was co-written by Senate President Pro Tem Darrel Steinberg. The bill is sponsored by the HSUS.Link still not working. Let's try this: http://biggamehounds...i...f=6&t=28911

Tom that makes perfect sense to you and I. If we don't care for something well we don't do it. But liberals are just the opposite. If they don't care for something nobody can do it.

Hound hunters are a small group. This is just a step towards taking your duck, or deer, or coyote hunting next.

This will be another real hard hit on the CA deer population. Fawns on there wobbly legs are a real easy target for bears coming out of Hibernation. I have seen many many full grown deer that were killed by bears. You can tell because they look like they have been surgically skinned. There will just be the hide and four deer feet and the nose left. CA has always had bear problems in some towns. The hound hunters usually are the ones that take care of it over time. It will cost the state money to trap problem bears if this happens. You bird hunters out there need to think about how many turkey and quail the bob cats will be eating, a big bobcat will take fawns and full grown deer too. I will try to fight this, but I remember fighting Prop 117 and losing. Lets all stick together on this and give the hound hunters a hand.

Yep, truely disgusting... for all the reasons mentioned. Our hunting privleges have been hanging on a thread for years, with many sportsman refusing to believe this. The way to accomplish a large problem is by (taking away) one small piece at a time. And that is exactly what liberal lunatics are doing, & started with the mtn lion. But some, not so smart of folks think that's ok, as if it is some sort of "compromise" that we all can live with. REALLY? Stuff like this is also why we need to educate folks, ESPECIALLY women, considering guns & hunting being mostly a man thing. Women VOTE, and is just beyond belief how many sportsman do not get this, by the azznine responses I've received and/or have read in regards to this.Bennie makes a good point about black bears. Decades ago, Idaho discovered black bears were the #1 reason for Elk losses. They do a # on deer to. Some, if not many folks do not realize this. And other states are not safe either, even though their residents often times believe they are. As Ca goes, usually other states do to. We are in a sad and pathetic times I'm afraid. I'll get off my soap box now. :roflmao3[1]:

Well I got my big bear and do not know anyone with hounds anymore so this does not effect me. So I do not care. Kind of like the 50bmg ban when other shooters did not care and would say you do not NEED a rifle that big. Any of you remember that?? I can be like so many other gun /archery people in this state/country and only care about my little part of the picture and not the total picture. WE are so fragmented that I see this happening. :signs1180lq: For those that do not figure this out it is sarcasism

Truer words were never spoken, DR... How folks can have that (ignorant) mentallity is beyond belief. And that line of thinking is W I D E spread too, and is a BIG part of the problem. I'm not sure if any amount of education (as I stated above) would change these type of people's (twisted) minds.

The bill gets passed, still hunting with my hounds. It's been done since the beginning of mankind and wolves and it will continue to be so. Its a right, not a privelege

While the potential passing of a bill like this is potential BS to us hunters, it would still be a LAW. Enforceable and punishable. If you chose to continue hunting with your hounds and you knew it was illegal, then you're just like every other poacher out there. I sure hope you don't take this approach toward other BS CURRENT regulations.

I've called my senator and asked them to oppose this bill. I've also called all the senators on the committee slated to either push this bill foreward or squash it. I'm currently drafting a letter that I'm going to mail to each of the senators I've called. Let's hear what everyone else has done so far?

Thats why I'd have no problem moving out of this state, who's ran by a bunch of lib's with their heads up their ass's

Not quite sure how to take this. Care to clarify? For now, I'll take the high road, and assume you weren't suggesting that I was a "lib" with my "head up my ass."

Here is the contact information for the body of legislators that can kill SB 1221 on the day it is heard...provided that we all stand shoulder to shoulder with each other and fight this bill, that is.Here are some things to keep in mind when contacting the members of this committee:1. Address the recipient of your letter, fax, or email as, "Senator" rather than "Mr" or, "Ms."2. Remain courteous, respectful, and polite in all communications.3. Clearly and concisely state your opposition and ask that they oppose the bill as well.4. When making phone calls, calmly and slowly state your opposition.5. You can and should reiterate your position in a letter, fax, phone call, and email to each and every member. However, you are encouraged to focus on the Democrats, as they are the ones most likely to support this bill.6. Use spell-check and have somebody review your letter, fax, and email before you send it...nothing will kill the credibility of your statement like a message full of grammatical errors.7. If you are unsure of the eloquence or articulation of your statement or may become nervous on the phone, simply state your opposition to SB 1221 and respectfully ask that they, "vote No on SB 1221."Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee MembersFran Pavley (D), ChairState Capitol, Room 4035 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4006 Fax: (916) 323-2263 Email: senator.pavley@sen.ca.govDoug La Malfa ®, Vice ChairState Capitol, Room 3070 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4004 Fax: (916) 445-7750 Email: senator.lamalfa@sen.ca.govAnthony Cannella ®State Capitol, Room 3048 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4012 Fax: (916) 445-0773 Email: senator.cannella@sen.ca.govNoreen Evans (D)State Capitol, Room 4034 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4002 Fax: (916) 323-6958 Email: senator.evans@sen.ca.govJean Fuller ®State Capitol, Room 3063 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4018 Fax: (916) 322-3304 Email: senator.fuller@sen.ca.govChristine Kehoe (D)State Capitol, Room 5050 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4039 Fax: (916) 327-2188 Email: senator.kehoe@sen.ca.govAlex Padilla (D)State Capitol, Room 4038 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4020 Fax: (916) 324-6645 Email: senator.padilla@sen.ca.govJoe Simitian (D)State Capitol, Room 2080 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4011 Fax: (916) 323-4529 Email: senator.simitian@sen.ca.govLois Wolk (D)State Capitol, Room 5114 Sacramento, CA 95814 Phone: (916) 651-4005 Fax: (916) 323-2304 Email: senator.wolk@sen.ca.gov

How many of you wrote/emailed or called about the 50bmg ban? Or was the attitude no one needs those or I do not have/want one so I do not care? Now I should take the effort to support something I do not do??YES you are darn right!!! I will send letters/emails just because if we let them chip around the edges of our sports/rights/traditions before long the whole thing will be gone. I urge everyone to do so even if the hounds are not YOUR thing.

Im new to hunting, but have been fishing for most of my life. I feel so sorry for the kids who will not be able to fish our beaches that are full of fish up and down our coasts because the MLPA thinks the population is struggling. I know the struggle, and will be out there to vote and support this effort. If someone could post up a CPC sample letter that we could just stick our name in and email it out, that would be great. Ill definetly forward it to other outdoorsmen who would gladly support us as well.

I have e-mailed all of them. Letters to each are ready and awaiting stamps. I will be on the phone today. This is not just against hound hunting. It is only a step against a small group to fragment the hunting community. Your type of hunting may be next.
