I've been hunting the NF out by Pozo for a while now, and have had no luck finding any rabbits. I see enough squirrel and quail out there, even a few bucks, but never once have i seen a rabbit. ive tried going in the middle of the day, real early, and late evening, and have never seen one. i haven't seen any sign either, which makes me think there arn't any out there. whats the deal? am i just unlucky, or are there really none out there. any advice would be appreciated. id feel a lot better using all that gas if i knew there was something there.

lumen,I've hunted up around that area a fair amount and come to think of it I can't remember seeing any bunnies. I do know there is a healthy ground squirrel population in that area. I have always seen a large number of raptors on the ranch that I hunt up by Pozo. There are redtails, falcons, golden eagles, and a variety of owls. Maybe the raptors combined with a healthy bear and coyote population keep the bunny numbers down?

Whats the elevation of that place.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

I waited, and nobody did. Just couldn't let it go any longer :signs653wf: . At first I thought he was going to post about some guy painted blue running around in a loin cloth shooting sleeping coyotes with mange with a bow in Pozo. :smiley_green_with_envy:

Still too cold for the loin cloth.

They're there. i get a few each time i go out when i dont find a pig or legal deer. i see them within the first hour or 2 of day light, then rarely a few in the heat, then they start coming out again at sunset. Best times always been in the morning

I agree with ajromo. If you are going to hunt bunnies then daylight is too late. Greylight is the time to be out hunting. They get up to take a leak and get some nice cold breakfast like a lot of folks. If you are there early then they look up and you go 'bang'.
