OK I bought my first varmint pistol 17hmr and I bought a Burris 4x12 pistol scope for it. The thing is so hard to keep on the focus line I'm thinking of putting a holographic on it or something else. Any ideas? It takes me forever to get on target. Dale

Put a rifle scope on it like I did on that Contender. Works great, easy to see out of. Best move I ever made.

Dale,I assume you have already tried it down on the low power settings and you still can't stand it. Then I ditto John that the rifle scope is an excellent way to go.Here's the 17 HM2 with the 6-18X simmons rifle scope. Good for about 150 yds.
Heres the 17 AH with the 3-12 Burris pistol scope. Good for at least 289 yds.
Whether I'm shooting fur groups or for groups I always use the bipod and put a bag under the grip. That does make it easier to line that scope up. Don't give them squirrels an even chance.

I put my pistol down inside this bag like so.
Then use the rear bag this one is sitting on to grip the butt.

Wow what a difference. I put the rifle scope you suggested John and what a fun gun. 9 shot group at 50 yds. was a 1/2 in ragged hole have to try taking a pic and posting. My daughter isn't home right now so we'll see about posting a pic on my own. Squirrels beware.

Pretty big differance isn't it. I wouldn't waste my money on a pistol scope. Too hard to get on target and with the low recoil pistols the rifle scopes just cant be beat. Almost to a gun the scoped class in NRA silhouette uses rifle scopes. I have the little cheap Bushnell 4 power airgun scopes on my 22lr and 32-20 the one with target turrets and they have been working for 20 years now with no problems at all. ..Walt
