Took my kids and dog out to Raahauges for a combo Pheasant / Chucker hunt last weekend. Great weather they both were able to bag some birds which made the trip even better. Dog did well to, he is just 9months now and is learning to hold his point a bit longer every time and use the wind to his advantage. Couple of the birds would just not fly. The bird in the first photo I had to kick to get into the air.Attached File  photo.JPG   35.08K   5 downloadsAttached File  hunt2.jpg   27.42K   5 downloads

Looks like a great time. My dad took me to raahauges when I was 8. Can't wait to take my son...7 years and 8 months from now.

It was a great time. The look on their faces when they dropped that first bird... PRICELESS.

Bunk,
Looks like it was a great time. There's a great pleasure in seeing your dog learn and advance in field skills.

But, That's a long way from Colfax. If you want some good flying birds, try Ace Hi. They are about in the middle of the San Joquin Valley near Huron. The owner, Keith, raises birds for all over the country in big flight pens. I tried places closer to LA, but the birds were crap in all the places we tried except Ace Hi.

It's not about how many, it's about how.
Life is too short to hunt with an ugly dog or gun

Maintain a balance of nature, use a beautiful gun when shooting a beautiful bird

sxshooter, Raahauges is only about an 1.5 hour drive from us in Colfax up I-5 past Knight's landing.

Terry is a great guy but their birds are not very impressive fliers. it is however a great place to start young dogs and kids. During the regular season we hunt @ knights landing sportsman's club.

I love to watch the dog work and he get's better every time!
