my dad and I headed out yesterday to the Imperial Valley for what will probably be the last pheasant hunt for the season. We found a field to shoot some doves in till 8:00am.We then started driving around looking for drainages and brush rows.At our 3rd stop we hit the jackpot. After walking up the drainage ditch approx 1/4 mile, the first rooster exploded and my dad dropped him with one shot from his M12 12 ga mod.We retrieved this bird and continued up the drainage. After another couple hundred yards, and no more birds flushing, I told my dad to continue and I would go back and get the truck and bring it up behind.Well, you know the story from here......I was about 100 yards away from returning to the truck when I heard dad shoot.yep......bang....flopI saw another rooster flopping around in the middle of the field dirt road.I rushed back to the truck and drove up to pick up his bird, as it was on my side of the ditch. Not a bad start to the day !We continued hunting brushrows and drainages the rest of the day till sundown and got another shot at one more rooster, but somehow he managed to avoid our shots (how, I don't know) and ended up escaping to safety in a cotton field. We ended the day with a toal of:15 doves3 quail2 roostersnot a bad day in my bookhere is a pic of dad with his roosters, note the smile !Posted Image

Good job guys! Great to see the ol man can still whack um. Great that you can still spend some time with him. I've been hung up with this stomach flu and haven't hunted since last Wed. duck shoot. I'm getting cabin fever especially with all this duck weather. My wife is wanting me to get well so I will go to the duck club and get out of her hair.
