I cannot get this thing to function properly, it works fine like a regular release button. When I try and make it so it only works like a mag release button safe for California I cannot get it to function this way. Anyone know how?

I'm not real familiar with that mag lock but you shouldn't put the upper on until you get it figured out. I believe that would create an illegal AW.

The spring goes inside the sleeve not beneath it. IF you put the spring in first it will function like you describe. take it apart, look inside the sleeve and you will see a little step inside the sleeve. Put the spring in so that the step is closest to the receiver. Then put the mini castle nut in and tighten it down. That will get you ready to go.

lol...what is the SWAT team is watching my every move...? Im gonna mount that thing either wayI'm not real familiar with that mag lock but you shouldn't put the upper on until you get it figured out. I believe that would create an illegal AW.

LOL ok the black piece that looks like a super long mag release. there is a small step inside it the step goes on closest to the receiver and the spring goes inside it.

I was describing a bullet button. OOPS 
the prince 50 installs like a regular mag release button. then you screw the Allen screw all the way in until the button won't move any longer. They are designed to top load only. if you back the screw out to press the button you are in violation.

All I'm saying is that if you attach that upper with a Prince 50 mag lock that is not functioning correctly, you are in violation of CA law. It's a stupid and silly law, but it's still the law. That matters to some gun-owners.

10-4. I am not worried in the safety of my own home, but I wont take it out to the range functioning this way
