Dave,I can think of two around here. One is Antelope Valley Hunt Club which I have hunted. It was fun and the terrain is flat. They don't mind if you shoot birds that were out there before you came in. The other is Rauhaugee's out in Corona. I haven't been but they have a decent website with videos. It looks like fun. At all of them you can specify pheasants, chukar or a combination, depends on how much you want to spend.

Dave,It is good to see people spend time with their fathers, I always enjoyed the time that I had with my father, he has been gone a long time now, and I still miss him a lot. Now it means a lot to spend time with my boys, and my daughter. (good on you)Tom

Please post how it goes/how you like it. We have a couple kids and an old dog we are considering treating to a club like that for pheasant also.

Thanks DD, that is where I have been very much considering. I may drive out there one day real soon just to check it out. Really looking forward to hearing how your hunt goes out there. Should be fun watching your new pup. And again, a great big atta boy for taking your dad out there. Best of luck.

Glad to hear you guys had a good time :signbummer8tl: . And glad to hear the puppy did well. I do have another question for you though if you don't mind. My hunting partner (and his dog) ran into an unfortunate incident so they can't make it, and I was just wondering if that place is still very huntable without a dog. I know a dog would make it much easier, but how would you say one would fare without one there?

Would be tough without a dog. Though there is not much cover, it is just enough for the birds to dissapear into. A pheasant can dissapear in 3" of grass. Because these are Pen-raised birds, some wont get up til the dog bumps them or you kick them. They will let you walk right by them and never move. They can set you up with a Dog Handler for about $50 I think. It is nothing like hunting wild pheasants in South Dakota. But it was fun for my Dad who has a hard time chasing wild birds, and it was great training for the pup.Great way to put some tasty birds in the freezer though.

Thanks again DD, I do appreciate it. I may have to consider "renting" a dog & handler there. And I hear you on the wild pheasant. I still have great memories as a teen hunting them on my grandparents farm on the Western Slopes of CO. The rush of kicking them up at your feet in foot tall alfalfa fields was highly addicting. But that was 25 years ago, back when the Western Slope still had pheasants :signbummer8tl: . So this is probably the only way I will have a chance to hunt pheasant with the nephew while he is still a kid. It is also a birthday present that lets me hunt too :doh[1]: . Thanks again for all the help (from all), I will call tomorrow and look into it and setting something up. And again, glad to hear your hunt with your dad and new pup went well.
