I recently read that there were Cottontails in the Paynes creek area, near Red Bluff. Then in speaking with a F&G person, said there are no Cottontails in that area. Does anybody know where I can find Cottontails in Northern California? or Recommend an area. Thank you.

I'm not sure about central California like Sacramento and the bay area, but up here in northern California they are all over.

No rabbits here in the valley.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Just got back from a cottontail hunt. We were by a resevior in Litchfield if you can find that on a map, it's outside of Susanville. They're all over around there. I brought home three in about an hours time. Happy hunting!

I have seen a few cotton tails in Tehama County, in the coastal range, but they are here. Usually they are above the foothills, but not real high up. They dont really run down the middle of the road like Jacks though.

Not to far from you about 45 minutes. I just bought my Yamaha Rhino in Brentwood and have a few friends that live out there. I am off the 5 just south of Tracy. Close to Del Puerto Canyon. I have a few thousand acres if not way more to hunt out here. Mostly squeaks,Dove,Rabbits,Coyotes are fairly common and a few Hogs but they are hit and miss till the Almonds start dropping. None of the property is mine but my wife works in the farming industry and knows most of the farmers from Tracy to Santa Nella so I get permission with no problems. I am working on 1640 acres up in the canyon closer to the pigs right now.
It is what it is.

Check the Carls Jr. drive through in Westley after dark you can order a burger and shoot cottons with a slingshot or whatever you prefer but I would suggest something quiet. They are always hanging out there usually about 20-30 of em. P.S order your fries with no salt otherwise they will be old and soggy.
It is what it is.
