I am 46 and my whole life been wanting to deer hunt, this was my first year out... went four days total, on 3 separate trips to my local region, saw about 8 deer total, no bucks (funny thing is that 4 weeks before the season i went out scouting, and only 2 hours on a forest road saw 3 legal bucks, then they disappeared when the season started!)...anyway seems like most experienced hunters i talk to tell me this was a very hard year to find bucks... most not only did not fill their tag, but didn't see any deer, period!so what is your experience this year: in your opinion was it a hard year, easy to tag out, or just as it always has been... why or why not?
tough year to find shooters

California deer hunting is always difficult. Sounds like a typical year to me. The fact that as people build more homes into deer areas the deer hold tighter to the homes. Plus our deer herds are not managed well this all add up to a difficult hunting environment.
