How much would you pay someone to pluck the feathers off your turkey?

For those that have never plucked turkeys, its much easier after they have been dipped in scalding hot water. it gets the skin to realease the feathers. my mother could pluck a bird in about 1 min. DR

That's exactly how we would do our turkeys and chickens. The feather would come of super fast and easy.

The reason to pluck is that the skin keeps the meat from drying out. Having just eaten mountain quail this week, while 'deer hunting', I find that it is definitely worth the trouble. The trick is to pull the feathers without ripping the skin.

HA!! DirtyDave if you showed the birds the photo of you in your makeup, the feathers would fall right out. I must admit that when we met I was rather disappointed that you didn't look exactly like your photo.

I commonly cook my small birds that I skin in the following manner and they are usually quite moist:Cut Jalapenos in half (remove seeds if that is your thing)put a lil cream cheese in the jalapenopress onto one side (i usually do it on the bone side but my uncle does the opposite)wrap in bacon and pin on with toothpick or twigbbq till the bacon is done and your breast is finished. Once upon a time when I had a girlfriend she would pluck and clean them because she liked roasting them but now that she is gone so is my roasted quail. Funny thing is I think I like my freedom and my recipe better!!

Here is what you do. Count your decoys. After you take a turkey skin it. Tan or do what ever to protect the feathers and skin. Fit it to your decoy male on male female on female. Then you have some great decoys that will draw in even more turkey each season.. Once you have your decoys all done if you want to pluck dip them first as has been stated.

When a friend cooks dove without the skin, he wraps them in bacon and some spices. I eat them by unwrapping the bacon, tossing the dove over my shoulder and downing the bacon.
