Well I wont have pictures until my dad gets back. But I get a phone call today. In the middle of class ( I Teach) and I look at the number and it's my Dad. I am like Humm he is in Colorado Elk Hunting I wonder why he is calling. So I answer the call and as soon as I hear his voice I can tell he is excited. He had just finished dragging out the Elk he had shot early this morning he tells me so I am like cool then he says it was a 6X6 the beams are 54 inches and the brow tines are 21" He was so excited been huntning elk for a long time usually gets a cow or small bulls. THe taxidermist said the bull should score in the low 300. He is getting a shoulder mount in a sneak I believe that is what its called. I cant wait to see it won't be done unitl July I think I am goign to road trip back with him to pick it up Robert

Wow!...300 class bull! That's the real deal. I thought only guys on tv shot 3 or 4 hundred class bulls. Great story...you should post some of the pictures when you see them. S&S

I will post pics when hegets back. ok now you have me wondering if he said 300 or 200  I am pretty sure he said the taxidermist said he thought low 300 oh well no matter what it scores I know he is very excited. I had a tape measure out to show my wife how big 54 inches was and she was like damn thats big. I still am wondering how he is going to mount it on a wall that is only 8ft high. LOL Robert

He may have to add a basement and cut a hole in the floor to let the antlers through.

Yea I think he said he and his hunting buddy thought it was in the 200 and like i said the taxidemist said low 300. I cant wait to see it. You know the more I think about the more excited I get for my old man. He has been on this quest for 30 plus years and has refused to to get a guide. Between his trips to Montana and Colorado I was thinking the poor guy would never get the big one. We had actually talked about getting him a fully guided trip next year for his 60th birthday. Guess we won't have to do that. Robert

Last year I was hunting Area 10 with my son in Colorado. I only have a cow tag as it takes 10+ preference points to get a bull in that area. My son and I were up in a bow walking along. All of a sudden on one of the hillsides we see two bulls start walking. We stopped, then decided to act like we didn't see them. Kept walking down the bowl past them. A couple hundred yards past them, we go up a draw. On the next ridge over (50 yards) an imperial bull turns broadside, skylines himself, and stands there for about 45 seconds. I really wanted a bull tag at that moment. My son was blown away at the size of that baby, and now has the hunting bug for life!Darren

Darren - too funny - "Have to be really nice to the wife to get the money for this hunt again this year" - darn, I think this sentiment is probably shared by all! I hear ya - my Wyoming license and application has to be in by Jan 31st - special draw. I have some pref points built up. If I don't draw next year for Wyoming then it's off to Montana for a combo hunt.

LOL NOw you know why the mount has to be in a sneak position. With a rack like that it wont fit against the wall in an upright LOL Course a side turn would really look nice too  Very nice bull  My son missed a chance at a HUGE bull this past rifle season. This year he didnt get a bull tag. ANd sure enough sees a montser. Watched it for almost an hour. It didnt even care they were there. I think they know when someone has a tag LOL. My son is 13.. Lets just say he will always have a bull tag from now on.. Grats to your dad on such a fine kill :) I know he ll enjoy it for years :)
