Any hunters around the Fresno area? Anyone know any great pheasant hunting grounds close to the Fresno area? A great duck hunting ground would be good as well. Didn't want to go and compete with other hunters at mendota wildlife area. Went out to Hensley and Eastman lake for the geese but there weren't any to be seen. Please help out a local hunter...still trying to make his first kill on a pheasant and geese.

Wild pheasant is tough in the SJ valley. There are planted bird operations, don't know about close to Fresno but Rooster Ranch in Stevinson has a good operation. A good dog is needed. Merced County has one of the largest wetlands in the western U.S. about 172,000 acres. There are Fed. and State wildlife refuge areas plus there are numerous private duck clubs. Good Luck
