As usual, I couldn't find it in the regs. Just wondering if going after quail with lead shot shotgun shells is allowable in the non lead area. I'm fairly sure it is, but could not find a yes or no in the regs.

CALIFORNIA 11-12, Waterfowl and Upland Game Hunting & Department Lands Public Use RegulationsEffectiveJuly 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012except as noted.see pg 18Upland game hunters are not required to use non-lead shot in areas designated as Californiacondor range. The lead ban applies only to those hunting big game and non-game species.
