I'm rather new to hunting and when I went out during the September dove opener, I didn't get a chance to fire off a shot. I went to the lockwood/fraizer park area, Carrizo Plain and Jawbone area.I was thinking of doing some scouting in Bakersfield after my morning quail hunts at Carrizo later this month. Does anyone know if there are any public land areas around Bakersfield or how to approach a private land owner to ask for permission?

Wait until December, doves in December have more of a peppermint taste.
