Hey there,First season hunting and two weekends in and I've already christened my bow. Unfortunatley it was my own thumb which got field dressed! Other than that it has been very hot around, I hear the bucks are up high and the CNF Ranger has made a point to observe the 150yd safety zone around trails/streams. I did see two doe along the inbetween a overgrown slope, but no bucks. I found some excellent water areas but there is no way you could spot and stalk with all the brush/leaves. Also been thinking of what to do if I do get a buck, I've got a game bag, but slinging a 100lb bag over the shoulder doesn't seem to be the best way. Does anybody have any recommendations?IrishCamel

I want to see aq picture of your thumb  . Put him in the bag after you get him tio camp ,truck ect. Field dress it and do not take the hide off till out of the woods. Back at camp or truck ect.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Hunt uphill from truck if possible. Game is a lot easier to drag downhill if bringing it out whole. You can use a wheelbarrow if the trails are not to steep, works pretty good on small Ca deer. If you are packing in a long ways the easiest way to get them out is debone them on the spot and pack them out.

That is my neck of the woods. Are you only going to bow hunt this season?

Thumper-I was done with my hike and putting the bow in the pack sling so I could bike it out. I got careless and pulled a strap too hard and it released, causing me to drag my thumb along the side of the broadhead, which was in the quiver but partially exposed.Fish- I will be going out for rifle as well, D15 looks pretty tough for archery.
