Took my son out for his first coyote hunt on the way to the duck club. Actually it was more of a scouting trip we only made two stands with no luck. But we did put a couple hundred miles on checking out some new area. Anyway this morning we went to the blind and had a heck of a shoot. My son had three ducks down before I fired a shot. He doubled on the first two birds into the decoys and then killed a high flyer that was bugging out. By nine in the morning he had a limit and we decided to go look for a nice drake pin he wounded earlier. We found the bird and started walking back to the blind when we heard a snow goose calling. We found it flying away about two hundred yards so I told my son to start mouth calling (calls were left in the blind). On his first call the snow goose did a u-turn and began to come back he continued mouthcalling it and it flew dead over us at about 40 yards up. I said take him and he stood up from his kneeling position behind some salt cedars and one shot later it fell not ten feet from us on the dike. We were hootin' and hollerin' and high fivin' to beat the band. What a day you guys. My son and my blind partner and I ended up with 16 ducks and of course the goose my boy shot. We loaded up at the end of the morning and walked to my partners truck as we drove out I showed my partner where we had set up for coyotes the day before (killed two there last week with Soreloser) and he said, "you mean right where that coyote is standing." Bigger then s#!t a coyote is standing there looking at us at ten in the morning. Oh well, next time maybe. Hey, that's great. Your son looks like a happy young man. I had to read this a few times: "My son and my blind partner and I...." Your blind partner must be a great shot.
