One time I was shooting my airgun and all of the sudden I saw brown in the scope. They pretty well ignore it.

Too funny mtn dog! If not bothered, often times shooting does not scare them. I've had deer & 1 coyote show up in my scope while target shooting. Man, that coyote WAS tempting, but I left him for "seed". LOL Frank

Their main enemy are cars and trucks up on the roads here and they seem to get somewhat trained on that. I saw about a dozen deer crossing the highway a few months back and they did it single file and waited for clearings. In general, though, we tend to be overpopulated. I have had over a dozen in the backyard in a herd at times and they walk around like cattle. Right now we have only identified 7-8 different ones coming up regularly and I think the bow hunting they did in the common woods areas helped reduce the population down. The largest deer I have seem in Missouri still alive was in my back yard two years ago.

Wow, he's a brute. Really pretty rack too, very symetrical.

The cars kill more deer here than any thing else does too. Especially where people build deer proof fences right next to the roads in there migration area's.

The last highway project they did right by my house two years ago they skipped the fencing to test that and it really seems to help limit the panic racing across the highway. Originally, we wondered why they did that but maybe now they need to rip the fencing down everywhere else.
