Attached File  2010_Blacktail.jpg   96.85K   18 downloadsWell, got back and saw quite a bit of deer. Actually was able to get it done. I am pretty sure he will go Pope and Young. Rough scored it around a 100 net.

This was on a hunt with a buddy of mine that has some land up near Cloverdale. Saw a lot of bucks but mostly forken horns. On the second morning I spotted this deer about 250yrds out and was able to put a sneak on him but ran out of cover just about 80yds. Got another 5 yrds before he saw me and took the shot. I practice about 3 times a week out to 100yds so felt pretty good about the shot. He looked broadside when I took the shot but must have been quartering away slightly because the entry was behind the shoulder but exited the neck. Cut his jugular and lung so he only went about 40ft. Was shooting a Grimm Reaper razor tip 100 grn out of my Mathews Monster with VAP 400s. The problem is that he fell off a 15ft cliff after going the 40ft and tore up his velvet and even broke is skull cap. Oh well, the meat tasted really good and am going to see if the taxidermist can do something with it. Attached File  close_up.jpg   80.53K   18 downloads

Thanks all. It was a hunt in a lifetime for me. What was super great is that 3 of us went up there and all of us got P&Y quality bucks. Got to see a good friend of mine shoot his first buck which was priceless!
