I want to install a muzzle break to my .223 so that I can see the target at impact. For you So. Cal guys, does anyone have a trusted gunsmith they can recommend? I know RSE custom guns in 29 palms has quite a reputation but he is bit far from me. Thanks.

Yates, there is "Bolsa" Gunsmith in Westminister that is within semi reasonable driving distance from you.If you do try them, make sure you talk to "Jason", the manager. He's the best one over there, including better than his uncle Fred, the owner. Frank

Went there a few years ago and met a guy with crappy attitude. Never went back since.

Avoid the kid that works there. I took a gun in and picked it up and he sneered about the ammo being the cause. Then when that was ok he pronounced the gun 'fixed'. After I discovered it NOT fixed the other guy shot it and declared it still not operating correctly. It was a turn-off and a disappointment because before I had heard good things about Bolsa.

Update...Took Desert Fox's recommendation and have the muzzle brake installed and test fired. Muzzle rise is at minimum now, felt like my 17HMR, I now can see the target at impact through scope. This gunsmith is a very nice guy and fast turn around; I drop off my rifle on Saturday and picked it up exactly one week later. He was very nice and patient; I spoke with him on the phone twice before I went over and he answered all my questions without attitude and explained to me in great detail of muzzle brake making and installation process. To make the deal even sweeter, he charges a lot less than the other shops I spoke to.Here are some pictures of the muzzle brake and grouping before and after the muzzle brake was installed. Overall, Iím very happy with the result of this project.
