Now thats what I call a liberal quota on Black Bears, and cheap for Grizz. Man I need to move to Alaska, thats my dream hunt, but the cost is high for the hunting I want to do, Brown and Moose, and some world class Halibut fishing. I hear a guide required if you come in from out of State, is that so?Is Kodiak still the best place for the biggest Brown Bears? We can take 5 blackies a year and don't require tags at all in Alaska. Just have to seal the skull. Most areas require a $25 tag for grizzlies for residents and that's usually one a year.

I don't want to sound dumb but what do you do to seal the skull? What is it and why do you do it? Maybe I'm missing out on some bear hunting terminology here.JasonAre bear tags hard to get in CA? We can take 5 blackies a year and don't require tags at all in Alaska. Just have to seal the skull. Most areas require a $25 tag for grizzlies for residents and that's usually one a year. Non residents is a whole different story though. Big bucks.Anyway, congrats and good luck!

I did on 1st day (23rd Sept) - posted in another area; am sure some may be tired of seeing this pic - D3-D5 area. 6:45am 1st thing. 500lb'er.....Head and hide at the taxidermist. Meat still being co-processed with some venison and elk into summer sausage, sausage and filets for jerkey. It seems like a few guys have bear tags...has anyone harvested a bear this year? S&S
