there are a few loads out there with 110 or 125gr bullets from federal, winchester and remington that I know of

Remington makes some 55 grain Sabot rounds for 30-06. A little pricey for shooting ground squirrels but might be fine for predators. Midway sells it: http://www.midwayusa...ctNumber=220009

Norma used to sell a 110 gr. load. Not sure if they still do. Haven't had an 06 for many years.

I load sierra 125gr pro hunters with winchester 760 for my .30-06, but I have never chronied it so i dont know the exact velocity.I can get groups in the 1" range at 100 yards.

I don't think anybody would be able to tell the difference on a coyote shot with either weight bullet. Both would be devastating from the '06. I would go with the most accurate in my gun.

I've been loading Sierra Varminter 110 grain and Speer TNT 125 grain bullets for my .308 and they're very accurate -- about .60 MOA -- fast, and low recoil. They're a pleasure to shoot and relatively inexpensive as .308 bullets go. I prefer the Speer TNT 125 grain because they have a better BC for longer range ballistics. And you can buy them in bulk from Midsouth pretty cheap. So you might give those a try in your .30-06.

Thanks. I was kinda thinking 125, maybe a harder hit. I ordered some remington 125 to try it out, not expecting much accuracy, but maybe I'll get lucky. I haven't shot the 06 much, need practice. Also got some fed gold medal match to try.

Yeah, have a bunch of cardboard yotes I've been practicing on, no problem at 100 or 200. Want to start working on farther, learning the bullet drop, ranging, holdover, maybe do some scope upgrades, etc. Also like to start reaching out further on ground squirrels. Thanks SJ, forgot about that one. Kind of figured everyone is tired enough of hearing me complain about barnes though. I swear I won't stop though until all are educated and quit buying their product.

That's a pretty broad question. I guess it would depend on what .30-06 round you were comparing to what .223 round.

Cool, thanks, Dave. Now to see if we can work up an accurate one... That 110 or 125 should put a hurtin' on 'em. Friend/customer told me he got one that was gettin' his lambs with .222 and it took three shots to kill it. Thi is a middle-older aged guy who runs long range rifle matches, so I doubt it was shot placement. I'm not worried about hides, and I want 'em DRT, so I'm going to play with the 06.

It either has to be bad shot placement, poor bullet selection/performance, or trying to overextend the caliber (probably most likely). A .222 is actually slighter superior (ballistically) to a .223, and the .223 is a notoriously well known killer. It should take two shots at most, with the second one just assuring death on a slow kill.

?? IF you push the 06 with the 125 gr bullet that fast, will it burn out the barrel? For the $ i'd think i'd stay with my deer rounds. But i had to ask
