This is what a .223 40gr BTHP will do at 100 yards! The meat blew out the back side and looked like carne asada!
Now, don't try to get away! I am more muscular, more cunning, faster, and larger than you are, and I am a genius. Why you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten.

Yep, a 223 can sometimes cause incredible damage when using the right bullet, velocity &/or hit (bones) on a coyote, including with the 40gr bullet that we've been using lately in our 223's & have also been surprised at the amount of damage by that bullet. Friends & I used to use the heavier 50 & 55 gr bullets in our 223's for years & also with sometimes amazing damage. However, in the last 2+(?) years we've switched to the faster, flatter & even more enjoyable shooting 40gr bullets. Specifically the Nosler Ballistic Tips & also their 40gr lead free pills. We've been pleasantly surprised by both of these bullet's performance. So far!Anyway, that's a good looking coyote and Congtrats on your fine hunt. Thanks for SharingFrank

You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.
