For what it's worth, a good way to inflict life-threatening damage to a fish is to jam your hand into its gills like that guy did. He revived it so it could swim away and suffocate. Too bad. The fish would have been better off in his smoker.

I know what you mean on the handling of the fish but. Those Mac's are pretty tough and I just watched the video again to be sure but it looks to me like he was pretty careful to not get into his gills but dealt with the gill plate. We C&R Mac's all the time at Tahoe which also involves nets and deflating their air bladder, they seem to survive. I can't be certain I've caught the same fish twice but I know I've caught fish that had previous hook holes in their lips and bladder bleeder scars and they were going strong. They are way tougher than a Rainbow Trout or a Silver (Coho) Salmon that's for sure. Not trying to cause a big dispute just my opinion.

He needs a bigger hole to pull the fish through .
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Awsome fish !!! C&R for me is catch fish , craddle ( no fingers in gills ) , take pic & let go . And yes I have not gotten a lot of pics of fish because they get away due to the craddeling . If they are that hardy of a fish , thats even better as there will be many C&R's in the fish's life . Imagine what stories he'll tell his friends . But I try not to keep them out of the water for a long time . Bass get lipp'd , trout craddled , carp ( go in the trash )per most lakes rules . ADDED : thats one thing i did not like about Wahoo fishing . some that looked like Barracuda were gaffed but I am sure its hard to get that hook out of their mouth if its as hard as it is to get the hook to get in & stay in its mouth . Plus the jigs / bombs average 5-10.00 ea. Andy
