I love to hunt Duck's and Geese.Being a Marine, I've been lucky enough to hunt from Coast to Coast and it's been awesome. I was born into duck hunting on the Salt Marshes of the east coast and the Chesapeke tributaries, hunted So. Ga swamps for wood ducks, hit Oklahoma every year for some FAT peanut Mallards, spent 3 years running the Colorado River around Yuma and have tried to hunt just about every little mud puddle in So Cal that I can throw a decoy in. Duck Calling is my real passion and the main reason I do it.. Hopefully next year I'll be on stage at the California State Calling Competition.

Duck hunting is my main passion. I am 1/4 owner of a Duck Club less than 1/2 mile from the Wister check station. We get many Ducks but it's rare to get Geese on the properity. We shoot the living hell out of the Sprig and Teal.I'm shooting an Original SBE 12 gauge - Flight Canceled!!!

The gun of choice is a semi auto 391 beretta 12 gauge i love this gun.

My buddy shoots a 391 and that's a great shotgun. It swings real good.5 MORE DAYS!!!Here are a few pic's from last season.Attached File  DSCN0240.JPG   138.75K   81 downloadsAttached File  a1.JPG   96.57K   43 downloadsAttached File  a2.jpg   66.99K   46 downloads

Yep Duck Hunting is a passion. I've been at the same club for the last 15 years in the North Grasslands. We (14 of us) own 280 acres of marsh in which we have some really fine shooting. We mainly shoot teal but usually get our one sprig and alot of widgeon plus a large variety of divers. Last year was a down year for us but the year before I think we shot over 1600 ducks of which 1150 were teal. I just built a little cabin instead of the trailer, which is a major improvement. As a added bonus when the marsh dries up the coyote hunting is pretty good. I've shot 4 and rimrock got one in the last 6 weeks. My duk gun is a Browning Gold which I had fitted and it seems to knock them out of the sky OK.

I've been at the same club for the last 15 years in the North Grasslands.

Anyone up for a... "I'll host a hunt for you, if you host a hunt for me?"It sounds like you get the same bag as me but it's always nice to hunt different areas. Also, I love to hunt Tinemaha Res. You can float the owens for you're 7 of Greenheads or blind up in the mouth of the reservoir for some fat Canvasbacks.

Duck Calling is my real passion and the main reason I do it.. Hopefully next year I'll be on stage at the California State Calling Competition.

Nice! It certainly is an art. What are you're favorite calls?ALMOST 4 MORE DAYS!!!

Hi my name is Mike and I admit I am a duck hunter. That was supposed to sound like an AA meeting, in any event I belong to a club a few miles from Arise and like he says we have pretty good shooting. Great sport with plenty of opportunity.

I have most of my calls made from someone up in the Delta Area.. I also use a RNT Daisy Cutter and getting ready to pick up the RNT MVP to use on the stage. Hopefully all will work out fine, it's not easy to find local competitions in this state, especially down south so if anybody gets wind of anything give me holler..

I duck hunt alot here in east Texas. I am just a couple of minutes away from thousands of acres of swamps, baygalls, oak flats, and the river. I hunt mostly wood ducks and a few mallards. I have killed a little bit of everything around here though. I'm about 50 minutes from the coast and all the marshes down there but I don't like messing with the crowds.

What a waste of time and money :D OK OK I was just kidding. I do like jump shooting them.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

First time duck hunting for me and it turned out to be awful. I went out to Hensley Lake this morning and called geese for 3 hours with none showing up. I fished the lake a lot during the off season for hunting and seen countless geese. I wonder where all the geese went too. Starting to think it's a waste of money.

best places for ducks and geese are in the lowlands of the valley like yolo, los banos ect. Also it's still a bit warm it should pick up in mid nov.

Well the Opener was awesome, more ducks than I've seen in 20+ years. We just sat and watched for 15 minutes then shot our limits in 15 minutes and back in the clubhouse by a little after 8am. Had the ducks weighed and winged for a DU study, then waxed and hangin by 9. Then the party started all day. That evening the Chinese Oven was fired up and 12 Sprig were cooked to perfection. Sunday was a little slower but now the November doldrums are soon upon us, the hunting will pick up when we get some weather and fog/cold.

The most fun hunting i can remember is growing up in WI and heading out to the sloughs when the northern mallards came through from Canada and sneaking through the cornfields to the edge of that one patch in the middle the old man cleared off just so the geese could land and rest. My shoulder hurts just thinkin about it.

Wed. the 25th with the wind howling we had a great shoot. 10 of us and everybody had early limits of mostly big birds. It looks like this is going to be a good season especially when it gets cold and those ducks need to eat.

The Grasslands are in the Los Banos-Gustine area, Merced County consistently has one of the highest count of ducks shot per year. We have members of our club fom Fresno as well as Bakersfield.

Coots a.k.a. Mudhens are actually not bad if they have been eating rice on rice paddies. We used to shoot them at my in-laws place, breast them out and an old Italian friend would make a stew like concoction out of them and serve it over polenta. It was very good. One year at a huge game feed that I was involved with we had a very bad duck year so we cooked up a bunch of coot breasts/polenta and we had people coming back for seconds, we told them it was duck/goose stew when asked and they ate it all. :D If they've been eating grass though they are not good, trust me.
