My good friend Raith called me last night and said be at my house at 6 in the morning and I am not taking NO for an answer. My girlfriend said you better go! I said yes. Raith said that is good, because one of my best friends was going too. Well he told me it would be good. It was great. Four of us went to one of his blinds and got limits by 9:45 in the morning. I know I told you guys that I would tell you when it was time to hunt with him this year, but he told me not to advertise because he was booked solid all the time and did not have room for any one. Here is the pictures. It was a great hunt.Posted ImageRaithPosted ImageRick one of my best friends, Raith and his lab PupPosted ImageDucks Raith and I kept to day!

He did pretty well out of two blinds where you mentioned. Lots of good days and some bad ones. He keeps track of where and how many birds he gets out of his blinds. I think he is just down a couple of hundred from last year. The guys that did real good this year seemed to all have blinds next to closed areas that always hold birds. There is more water now for them to spread out than there has ever been. He try's harder than most people I think. He is always out in the middle of the day strawing up his blinds and changing his spread so the birds do not get used to it. He is also very good on the call. He has asked me to go several times this year, but I have had to work more this winter than I normally do and just could not make it. The truth is I have never really got back it to duck hunting since they have made us start using steel shot. It makes me mad when I see a duck get hit by two or three shots sometimes and fly off. I think they should do a study and see how many birds are being wounded by steel shot. I really miss the old days when we shot the with lead and could just crush them. The steel loads are getting better though, but do not compare to the old lead loads as far as killing power as far as I am concerned. We used to use 2 3/4 #6's or 4's out of the blinds years ago and would do a lot better at killing birds dead than we can with the 3 inch steel loads. Thank god for a good dog that knows how to stick his head under water and come up with a bird.
