I recently had the pleasure of shooting a Calico 9mm carbine and it got me thinking about looking for something that will shoot .40 cal. I came across Hi-point and was wondering if anyone has handled one, and what they thought. From what I've read they have mixed reviews but would like to hear from people on this board.

Everyone I know says they are trash. However most have never shot one. Check this video out you might be impressed with a hipoint

I expected to hear they were junk, however I'm not looking at them for some kind of heirloom quality gun that can be passed down generation to generation. I was looking at them for the price ( I really don't want to spend a ton of money on something that I would only be using for sh*ts n' giggles), and the fact that they have a lifetime warranty. I just wanted something in the way of an inexpensive carbine to have fun with.

They are fine, you are always going to have the "hi-point is junk" crowd. I think that most of those people have never owned one, but are just spouting off rhetoric they have heard on the Internet. You will need a bullet button on it in CA.
