Better pack some good rain gear! I'll be heading out at 4am, gonna toss the tent and sleeping bag in the truck too just in case I'm seeing lots of deer. Told the dispatcher I may or may not be back thursday. He knows that all the rules go right out the window during deer season!

You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Ok, I just got home about an hour ago from a 3 day hunt. I endured the cold (20* this morning), rain, & snow (enough to collapse my tent) and still came up empty handed. Saw 30 deer, only 1 was a very small spike. Stopped to eat lunch yesterday and found a gut pile where somebody had dressed one out so at least SOMEBODY got one... Everyone I talked to hadn't seen very many, and only one person said he had seen anything legal. Lots of BIG tree squirrels running around. I was able bag 2 of 'em with my buddy's old Sears & Roebuck .22. Shoulda thrown the .17 in the truck... ;)

Well at least you had camp meat. ;) The .17 HMR's ruin the meat on those tree squirrels unless you shoot them in the nose. :(

Unfortunately the second one I got wasn't pretty. I shot him once and he started scrambling up the tree, so I shot him a second time, and his nerves seized up and he died with a death grip on this little branch about 20 feet up the tree. So I had to shoot him again to knock him out of the tree, and by that time he was pretty much ruined... But the first one was a perfect gut shot from the side so there was almost no wasted meat. :( I considered myself lucky to even hit them with that ancient .22 and the little Tasco air-rifle scope on it.*edit*- Almost forgot, we were woke up by the sound of a pack of coyotes yippin' and yappin' in the middle of the night last night. They must have been running down some game, but it was exciting to listen to them.
